The first picture of black hole
How was first
image of black hole taken?
What you see here is the first image of black hole taken
from event horizon telescope. Event horizon telescope is a collection of radio
telescopes from all over the world. But first
2. What is a radio telescope?
Radio telescope is a type of antenna and radio receiver
used to receive radio waves coming from astronomical radio sources in the sky
which emit strong radio waves. They scan across an object in space and receive radio
waves from each spots around that object some spots have stronger radio waves
than the rest this data is the stored on pixels and that’s how radio telescopes
get the image.
And a telescope of this very kind took the first image of
black hole.

3. Making the event horizon telescope

The basic idea about the way to combine the radio
telescopes of all over the world into one telescope that is the event horizon
itself.
Combining all telescopes around the world wasn’t easy
first there should be a proper coalition of all the telescopes then another
problem was about storage of data all the telescopes combined were producing a
lot of data which needed really a big space to store. It took a half ton of
hard disk drives to store the data. After some of the sleepless nights and hard
work the event horizon telescope came into existence.
4. How did they do it?

Now comes the main question how was the black hole found
and how did they click image of it?
After
making a lot of research astronomers chose the m-87 they though that m87 was
one of the biggest black holes and probability of seeing it was much more than
of the other smaller back holes in our neighbourhood. Another reason was that
it was not too far in north or south. It was crucial for telescope of all over
the world to observe it at a same time. After the observation ended astronomers
had to see what they have observed by the telescopes. in order to find what
they had seen scientists and astronomers had to analyse the data combined. 2
computation centres one in Europe and one in us combined very large quantity of
data which was about 350 terabytes from each telescopes and as I mentioned
before It took a half ton of hard disk drives to store the data after very much
hard work on the data they got an image begun to come up and after 2 years of tremendous
calculations the image was finally ready the image was a ring light structure
with a dark central region and for the first time in history a shadow of a
black hole!

This
work finally completed after 8 years of working hard day and night.
And
we can also hope that the event horizon telescope will make many more further
Discoveries
too.
Thank
you!
